The Battle Of Agincourt forms the background for Andrea Miniatures' latest vignette of three figures which was recently released into their "Medieval Knights" range. it can be painted as fighting men of both sides - either English or French knights, for which paper cut out banner or flag is provided. enough parts (there are over 30 in the kit) are provided to ring some subtle changes to the figures. Cast in white metal, the three figures are 1:32 scale and a cast scenic base is provided on which to group them.

The white metal casting in this kit is very good. I was impressed when I opened the generous foam liner tray to see everything laid out so that the eyes are immediatley drawn to the highly detailed and crisply moulded parts. the cast pole arms and lance or staff, which takes the colour were in the box, perfectly straight and, I was please to see, not bent as can happen. heads are cast on to two of the three figures, but the third has a choice of either a closed helm or head that will take a circlet for the British version. Ther ae a few moulding pips that need removing, but the fit of the parts, is again, excellent. If it is needed only a wipe of filler will be required because the main upper to lower torso joins on our sample were spot on.

The French trio can be painted as the characters suggested in the instruction sheet (Spanish/English text) as Marshall Of France Jean de Mainge, Squire of Bacqueveille Guillaume de Martel (holding the flag) and the Duke of Bar - the version of the vignette painted by S.Blaquez illustarted here.

The English version represents Sir Edmund Thorpe, Sir John Cordington, King Henry V's standard bearer, and Lord Bardolph. Full colouring instructions are provided and the box outer cover shows both French and English versions in full colour as a painting guide, with references to the Andrea acrylic range of colours.

Which ever way you look at it, this is an excellent model and the price, when divided by three and the contents considered, doesn't appear too restrictive compard with some models we've seen recently. It is an instant and colourful Vignette built straight from th box and there is plenty of leeway for conversion too.
