An Alamanni warrior c.AD200 and sculpted by Julian Hullis is a newly released 70mm white metal figure kit from Elite Miniatures of Spain. The Alamanni (German) is quite a striking figure, albeit simple in concept,and not at all complicated to paint, thus suitable for the first-time attempt or for beginners with some experience tucked under thier belt. Weapons consist of a spear, long knife and axe and he carries a small round shield. Fitting the axe to the body casting can be a bit tricky and it should be (as per the instructions) cut into two parts, whereupon it should be easier to fix. Otherwise, with asingle body casting and only the right arm cast with thespear and shield to add, the rest is fairly straightforward. Colour references (Vallejo Acrylics) are provided in the instructions.
